Hi,
It's Earth Day today. Do something nice for your planet. Unplug the toaster, coffeepot, can opener, etc. Turn lights off in empty rooms. Recycle. Whatever... Any and every small thing makes a big difference when millions of people are doing it together.
Four more days until the move. I am having a small issue with the moving company that I hope to get corrected today. When I hired them, I was asked what time I would like to begin and I said between 9 and 10. My email confirmation said 8, but I was fine with that. Someone else from the office called yesterday to confirm the move for Saturday and told me I was scheduled for an afternoon move, between noon and 4. Uh, no...I don't think so because I made all of my other arrangements/appointments (telephone, cable, internet, friends and family who are helping) based on an 8:00 move time. I hung up and found the email with the 8:00 time CLEARLY printed on it, and forwarded it back to them. Today, I will take a hard copy to the office and have a chat. If they can't change it back to the original time because they don't have movers available now, I will ask for some kind of conpensation for the inconvenience. A free hour would be great! :)
I am sitting in a near empty apartment. Only the furniture and a few necessities are left here. The new place has curtains and bookcases and wall decorations and food and dishes and and and... well, everything, including a ghost. Not a Hollywood movie psycho ghost, just a quiet spirit. Or so my psychic friend, LeeAnn, tells me. She felt it the minute she walked in. Both Linda and I sensed something when we were checking out the attic a few weeks ago, but didn't say anything. I'm not surprised (and yes, I believe). The house was built in the 1800's. Who knows how many people have lived in it since then. The attic is cool...it's all small rooms with closets and doors, wallpaper, etc. I think it may have been servants quarters at one time. There are 2 stairways leading in and out. One goes into the back hallway, the other into the front hallway.
I'd love to do some research on the house, but not sure where to begin . Maybe a deed search or soemthing could tell me who built it. It was a single family home at one time. They must have had a dozen kids or something...it's a BIG house.
I need (okay, I WANT) a couple of bookcases (three, actually). I am considering going to the Millstore and getting unfinished ones that I can paint white. My brother is coming over today to hang the new bathroom light and medicine cabinet. I still have a bag of returns in my car. All things I can be doing today and tomorrow because there isn't anything else I can move over there right now. I am quite a bit ahead of the game and am happy about that. I have a half dozen or so empty boxes here to put the last minute stuff in and then, I'm outta here. Yeehaw...
It's almost 7. Need to get in the shower and head out. Have a great Earth Day!
Peace,
Kay
