Hi,
Happy Easter to those who celebrate.
It's been a productive few weeks at Chez Kay (both of them :). The big paint jobs are over. I'll do some woodwork touch up after I move in, but the walls in all of the rooms are finished.
I've ironed and hung curtains and a few wall decorations. Made a few trips to the house with boxes, most of which can't be unpacked until the items that were once their storage containers are moved (desks, bookcases, etc). I've put all of my spices and teas and wine glasses and cookbooks away. It's starting to feel like home.
I will probably not put up the majority of the wall decor, as well as a smattering of other items throughout the apartment. Time for a change.
The Loud Family has returned. They've been gone for a few days...it's been heaven! I (seriously) think that since I told the owners I was moving and why (not that they didn't figure it out the minute I said, "I'm moving"), The Loud Family has made it their mission to be louder and more annoying than before. I am not exaggering when I tell you that the kids (and a friend) have run in and out, up and down the stairs at least 8 times in the last 5 minutes, slamming the door every time! 13 more days...just 13 more days.
Anyway. I am planning a mini yard sale for later on in the spring for those items I no longer want and what I don't sell, I'll get rid of on Freecycle (or ask friends and family if they want them).
I'm tired, but ther is still much to do so I'm plugging away a little bit every night. I cleaned the stairway to the attic today (all of the previous tenants have left such a mess up there!), and moved a bunch of stuff to empty out a small area that I will use as storage. I am hoping to get most of those boxes up there this week. I've sorted and tossed out and given away a lot of the stuff that was in the basement in storage so that I don't have to move it again. I would LOVE to have nothing left but the big stuff that the movers are taking care of on the BIG day.
I have a big bag full of things to return to Kohl's, Target, Lowe's and Wal-Mart. Items picked up either before I decided to paint and now won't work, or things I've just changed my mind about.
Talked to the new landlady yesterday. I offered to take care of some of the items that were left behind by posting them on Freecycle. There is a full size mattress and box spring in the spare room that I'd like gone now. She said that anything that's hanging around, including stuff in the attic, that people want, they can take it. I did find a couple of cute framed prints up there today though, that I'm going to hang in my bathroom.
Okay, I have to feed Bella. She is being very patient today.
Peace,
Kay
P.S., if you are on good terms with Mother Nature, I'd appreciate a mild, sunny weather day here on April 25th. :)
