Hi,
I am having a hard time finding any enthusiasm about this blog. I don't even know why. Maybe my life is just too mundane (not that I want a lot of excitement to shake it upI).
I found (yet another) new method of making jewelry that I am in love with at the moment...wire crochet. Here are a couple of pics of some that I've done so far.
Each piece is unique because I'm randomly stringing and crocheting these necklaces with no rhyme or reason. When someone buys one, they won't be seeing another like it on someone else's neck. I couldn't repeat these exactly if someone had a gun to my head.
I've given each piece a name....with the help of some friends and family. Top pic is Beachy Keen, middle is Faerie Garden and bottom is Mexican Dreams. They all have matching earrings.
I am awaiting a shipment from my bead supplier of cones and toggles so I can finish them off, then I'll box them up all pretty and either sell on Etsy, sell at my Open House in Sept, sell at my annual pre-Christmas sale at work, or sell to a gift shop owner next town over. I've grown quite fond of them, so parting with them will be hard. :)
I met with my retirement fund agent this morning. Things are looking pretty dismal on my statements. Quarter after quarter (after quarter!) of losses instead of gains. When I first started the fund, about 10 or so years ago, I still had plenty of time before retirement, so was a little risky with my stocks. While they made more money than the safer choices, they also tanked faster. We moved some stuff around today. I sold some stocks at a higher rate than I paid for them, and pretty much dumped the risky business altogether. Now I have 50/50... 50% safer stocks, 50% bonds. Need to begin rebuilding all that I've lost over the last 4 or so years. An astrologer has predicted a big stock market crash soon... I dunno. I hope I made the right decision.
I have been watching The Tudors through Netflix. Wow... who knew Henry VIII was so hot! :) Have only seen 3 episodes of season 1, but I think I'll like it. Also watching Six Feet Under (season 4 or 5), Soprano's (season 4 or 5), Monk (season 3) and Weeds (season 5). I end up with dvd's for weeks because I don't spend much time with the tv on, but that's okay. Always have something I can watch if I'm tired of making jewelry or reading.
Speaking of tired...it's about my bedtime so I'm off. Sorry I've been so sporadic and MIA around here. I don't even know if anyone is reading this any more.
Peace,
Kay
Still reading!
I like the crocheted pieces!

Kay, I was so happy to see your post today! It's stinks when blogging becomes a chore. I think it happens to everyone.
I love your crocheted necklaces. They look so difficult and are absolutely beautiful! My fav is Faerie Garden.
Peace!
