Saturday
August 7, 2010 (wow!)
Hi,
Saturdays are my favorite days! Usually the whole day to myself, and still have another day off from work to look forward to.
I intended to hit the library book sale, but the annual City Sidewalk Sale was taking place this weekend as well and there were no parking spaces anywhere near the library. Not a huge fan of the Sidewalk Sale, (mostly stores dragging the same junk to the sidewalk that they've been hauling out of storage for years). So, I just kept driving...all the way to Leominster. Stopped at The Art of Beads to pick up (mostly to check out) some cones for my new pieces. Needed to get a good gauge of the size that would fit over the wires. The ones I bought, sight unseen from my bead supplier, didn't work, I spent...er, invested $95 in my business while I was there. Here's one thing I made with my purchase today:
I have no plans for tomorrow at the moment. I'm going to finish a necklace I started after this one, then spend the day making some bracelets.
Did I mention that my friend Shelby, who makes the coolest purses, totes, wallets, etc. out of recycled jeans and other materials, and I are hosting an Open House at her place on Sept. 19? I can't wait...have already sent out a bunch of invitations. Hoping to get a few people to book home parties from us. Two sales a year at the hospital aren't really working for me anymore. We're having wine and appetizers and each donating an item for a door prize.
One of my friends (and biggest fans of my stuff) went to a local gift shop for something last weekend and just happened to mention this new line of jewerly I started. She said the owner seems intersted, so I'm going to get some decent packaging and tags (I have a printing company working on a layout for tags for this stuff only), then box up a few pieces and bring them out to Marla to look at.
Last night, my sister-in-law Denise, my old friend Peggy and I went to a drum corps show in Lawrence, MA (Peg and I marched together in the 60's). The 2 corps my son marched in were both there last night and came in second and third. My SIL and I had such a great night (she also marched as a kid...that's where my brother met her) that we decided we are going to do the 2 day Allentown preview next year. Allentown is the big show with all of the corps right before the championships every year. If we do that, we'll get to see everyone in their top form. Gotta start looking for a hotel soon (really...it's a big deal for drum corps peeps) and hopefully can grab tickets early to get good seats.
Guess I'll hit the sack. Nearly 11PM and I was up until 1AM last night.
Peace,
Kay
