Hi,
My friend, Shelby, and I held our first Open House at her place on Sunday. Not sure how many people came, but we had a pretty steady stream of folks for about 90 minutes right in the middle of the 3 hours we were hosting the show.
I booked 2 home parties from the Open House and have another vendor sale at the hospital in November. When I am in AZ next month (came up quick!!!), one of Den's friends is going to help me set up an Etsy webstore. Before I go, one of Tam's friends is taking pictures of all of the stuff I have left from the Open House.
I don't have a total for Shelby's sales, but I made about $300...enough, I think, to upgrade my seat on the train next month when I go to AZ on Amtrak. I am going to call this week and see if they have any "bedrooms" left on either train. I am taking the Acela out of Worcester, MA, but will be on the Southwest Chief from Chicago to Flagstaff. Either night would work for me, both would be better. Wish I'd had a conversation with my friend, Buddie, who travels by train ALWAYS, before I made my reservations. He gave me the scoop and some inside tips.
There's a very good possibility that I am getting a Nook for my birthday. I'm (on the one hand) very excited about it because I can carry a boatload (1500) of books around on one device and not be responsible for the death of any more trees, but (on the other hand), I love paper books! And, I will also be putting yet another plastic device into the world. All in all, though, I am more excited about having a Nook than I am concerned about the plastic since I'm not one of those people who feels the need to get a new phone or iPod or computer every time something new comes along. It will probably be a "til death do us part" arrangement.
The HORRIFIC summer weather has abated some. We've actually had several PERFECT days and some chilly (yay!) nights. I hear that it will be in the 80's again later this week. I just hope the humidity doesn't come back with it. The leaves are turning. It's apple picking time. Hot chocolate and corn chowder and pumpkin bread...oh my.
Well, Bella turned 2 some time this month. I don't have her actual birth date. She's a rescue cat. However, I got her at approximately 8 wks old on Halloween of 2008. She hasn't settled down a bit...still clawing up the furniture and stuff, which makes me NUTS! Still feisty too...and a little like Linda Blair in The Exorcist. One minute you'll be petting her and when she's done with that, she whips her her around and bites your hand. So loving.
When I first got her, I was told that she would settle down a bit in 6 months. No. Then I was told she would be better when she was 1. No. "Oh, she'll calm down by the time she is 2. You'll see". No. (Linda, are you reading this? Will you tell me she'll be better at 3 now? :)
Here's the thing though. She's so freakin' smart. It's been just the 2 of us since she came to live with me. She knows my routines as well as I do. I finally had to accept the fact that she is training me, not the other way around. I guess I'll keep her... every witch needs a little black cat, right?
Peace,
Kay
