Hi,
Yesterday was 10/10/10. Someone I know, who is into numerology, said that 10/10/10 means New Beginnings. I'm all for it. :)
I have a site meter on my page and get one email a month letting me know how many hits per day and week and month and page, etc. my blog gets. It arrived yesterday...ZEROES on every line. Hmmm. I don't blame the people. I'd stop reading this too. I am always disappointed when I visit a blog I like and it hasn't been updated in weeks (or months). Sigh... I can't promise to do better. Sometimes, there is just nothing to say.
Yesterday, I started packing for my trip. It soon became evident that I (as usual) was overpacking. Or was I? I have to spend a total of 6 days/4 nights on the train. I need something to do. I am allowed one checked bag and 2 carry ons (not including purse). So, I'm bringing a big purse and a back pack (which is filled with beading materials) and a large canvas tote. It has a shower bag full of stuff, a big ziplock bag with Odwalla bars and such for snacking, 3 books (small ones), a deck of cards, clean underthings, 2 t-shirts, 1 pr pants, a puzzle/game book, a journal, socks, a neck pillow and a fleece blanket. My suitcase is almost already full and I still need to put last minute stuff (hair brush, blow dryers, etc) and more clothes. It's a small suitcase...actually considered a carry on at the air port. I'll fit what I can and just do laundry at Den's for the trip home. I'm having trouble deciding what shoes to bring.
I'm heading to lunch, then B&N with Tammy today. Getting a demo on the Nook. Can't wait. I'm currently reading (in hard cover) The Invisible Bridge by Jule Orringer. WOW... Heard about it at Elizabeth Berg's blog and it's everything she said it was. Incredible writing...and Orringer is so young. She must have done a LOT of research for this book. Wonderful...
I started watching (from Netflix) the first season of Glee. I didn't know what it was about, but got hooked on the show fast enough. :) Hoped to catch up before the new season started, but didn't make it. Still watching past seasons of Weeds, Monk, Six Feet Under, Sopranos and The Tudors. I will be way past retirement before I finish them all. :)
Speaking of retirement. I met with a rep from our retirement fund company a few weeks ago and changed my portfolio around. Needed to have stocks and bonds with a little more security now that I'm getting closer to retirment age...not that I think I'll EVER be able to fully retire. But I had been steadily losing money (too much!) from my retirement fund (as has most of the country) and that needed to be corrected. Actually showed a nearly $4000 profit last quarter. Not much, but better than another $4000 loss.
Emma has a boyfriend. I can't even imagine that. Godde... I'm getting old (hence, the retirement conversation).
Well, I have some housework/laundry to finish up and need to get in the shower. So glad to have an extra day off from work! Four work days and I'm outta there for TWO WEEKS. I can't even remember the last time I took 2 weeks in a row. Years ago...
It's chilly, but sunny...my favorite weather. Although the foliage is terrible this year due to the too hot, too dry summer, I'm happy that it's autumn.
Peace,
Kay
