Hi,
Hard to believe that we will be entering the last month of 2010 in a couple of days. Like (too) many years past, this one flew by as well. What have I done with it? Good journal topic.
Tammy and I went to Maxwell Silverman's for Thanksgiving dinner with some friends. Just the 2 of us this year and I had no desire to cook and clean up a big meal, so this was a good option. The food was delish. I'd never been there before. Nice place... I love it when old buildings are restored and used instead of rotting away.
The weather has been turning a bit colder this past week or so, but we've yet to experience our first snow. I'm good with waiting until December! Actually, a nice snowfall on Christmas Eve for Denny and Michael (oh, okay....for us too) would be perfect for the entire season.
I'm nearly done with my Christmas shopping. Doing much less this year now that the kids are older (grandkids, that is). Emma, who will be 14 in January (HOW did that happen?) asked for gift cards to Abercrombie & Fitch, Aeropostale and Bath & Body. She doesn't want me choosing her clothes...haha. Sam is into Harry Potter this year, so some HP legos and movies for him. I am also looking for a HP Nintendo game for his DS. Tammy asked for a sweatshirt from American Eagle Eco line and a copy of the newly released Mark Twain autobiography. And for Den & Micheal...airline tickets home for Christmas from me and Tam. :)
I did most of my shopping online, but last weekend, Nora, Linda and I went to Cape Cod. On Saturday, we drove (well, I drove) to Hyannis for the day and we hit a bunch of stores. I got Em's gift cards there, as well as a couple of other goodies.
We had a good time at the Cape. Left Friday morning, stopped for breakfast, then got to Dennisport around noon. We had no plans for the day, so mostly stayed at the house chatting, reading, etc. Nora made a baked pasta dish that was tasty and Linda brought chocolate trifle for dessert. We had many bottles of wine as well. :)
Found a couple of new (to us) wines that taste more like Bailey's than wine. They are thick, like Bailey's and creamy. Chocolate and chocolate raspberry. That was good for sipping during the evening.
I made an egg, broccoli, onion, cheese frittata on Sunday for breakfast. Once we cleaned up, we packed up and headed back to MA. Stopped at Plymouth rock on the way back. More like a pebble than a rock, but hey...if you live here, you should see it at least once, right? It was FREEZING in Plymouth last weekend. They'd had a big celebration the day before...parade and all...and most of the vendor tents were still set up, so we browsed and did a little shopping there as well.
I have been working on some jewelry for a house party I'm doing this coming Sunday. Here are a couple of pieces I made over the weekend.
Nora and I went to see Harry Potter 7 yesterday! LOVED it... am looking forward to Part 2 next summer, although that means the end of it all. :( I have really enjoyed the books and movies. What started out as curiosity and a desire to see if they were appropriate for Emma back when the first book was released turned into a minor obsession. I am a huge fan and have nothing but admiration for Rowling.
Okay, I've bored you long enough. Two posts in the same month...wow! :)
Peace,
Kay
Kay, it sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving! You even traveled through my neck of the woods! I'd love to know more about the wine you ladies enjoyed. It sounds delish!
Peace!
